I have been a dog lover all my life.  I was never able to have a dog growing up due to my brother’s allergies.  However, it never stopped me from finding every dog I could to play with in the neighborhoods where I was living at the time.

Once I grew up, got married and had children I knew I had to have a dog in my life.  In comes Taxi, a rescue from the research centre at the University of Guelph.  She was, in my opinion, the perfect dog.  I did take her to a conventional type training centre and felt that I was doing the best for her.

I was always questioning the trainers about the treat type training and they tried to reassure me that this was the only way to train a dog.  Being a new owner I thought I would have to trust them.  Once I was done with this training I started to believe that a dog should be doing what it was told, not because of a treat, but because the dog chooses to out of respect for the owner.  Even though Taxi is now in her golden years she is still my greatest inspiration when it comes to dogs and their training.  I learned so much from her that I need to thank her for bringing me to this point.

I had an opportunity for a career change in my life and thought that I wanted to go back to my true passion.  Dogs.  I had been watching Brad’s show for quite awhile and truly believed in everything he was doing.  When I was on the website one day I saw that his training was coming to Toronto.  No matter what I needed to be there.

I truly want to train owners to educate their dogs.  I look forward to working with many people and their wonderful dogs.

It may sound a bit like a cliché, but I have loved dogs since my earliest memories.  The bonds and experiences I built with various dogs throughout the years will always stay with me.

I first came across Brad’s training techniques after getting my current dog, Skye.  Being a more mature owner now than when I had my previous dogs – and being a mother too – I realized that I needed to expect more from my dog and from myself.  After doing a couple of training sessions (one with one of the other CTEs and a group session with Brad), I decided that becoming a CTE would be an incredible opportunity to learn about these wonderful animals and the proper way to train them.  The bottom line is… it just makes sense!

I look forward to working with and educating people with their dogs for years to come.

I wasn't exposed to trainers or different training methods when I got my dog. I just treat trained because that was what my parents did with our family dogs. Which I realized later was ineffective as my dog still pulled on leash, barked at the door, and blatantly ignored commands.

At the time I lacked education about training. I didn't realize it was my training method that needed to be changed. Until one day when two of my friends saw me walking my dog for the first time and asked if I did umbilical. This prompted me to ask "what's that?" as I had no clue what they were talking about. I learned about At The End of My Leash and applied everything I could from it and Synergy, to my dog. I later attended one of Brad Pattison's Street Safety classes and had the privilege of shadowing a current CTE.

I now look forward to working with anyone and everyone willing to learn about the amazing bond they can have with their dog and how to get there.
