Hey well it has been a while since I posted about how PROUD we are of Rowdie and all her progress!! Since meeting Brad this past March Rowdie has come practically 180 degrees from where she was!!! Thanks to Brads methods and Mike and I's HARD work!!! She now hikes off leash (no more crazy 10 min explorations while we all search for her) She goes swimming (well bobbing for floating toys) with her friends plays with toy and actually SHARES toys She has been SOOOOOO good I'm now at the stage where I'm starting to be shocked when she does something wrong whereas before I was always shocked when she did something right!!! This weekend we went to Cultus Lake and she met several dogs on the walk to and from the lake while she was off leash and she introduced herself very nicely played for a quick minute while we socialized with the other owners, and then followed us when we called herwith a "Rowdie Hustle"!!! She still sets up her "boundaries" upon meeting other dogs but no more wierd starting fights for no reason when intro'ing herself to other dogs, today there was even a 1 yr old bullmastiff X at the lake (Rowdie made it to the water before we did) and she intro'd herself to this LARGE puppy and set her boundaries when the pup took some sniffing liberties and the owner just laughed and said "yup its good for Prada to learn these things from other dogs" nice to hear an owner not scolding me for Rowdie setting up her own boundaries!! Its funny to cause I have had several owners in the past little while tell me Rowdie is just what their dogs need because their dogs are very playful and always assume that all dogs like to play like them but thats not the case!! Its nice to be proud of my dog!!!! I hope you all are having some great break throughs with your dogs and wish everyone the best of LUCK

That's awesome Always good to hear success stories! That's one thing we've yet to accomplish - off-leash with other people around... he's great when there's no-one around, but if there are PEOPLE, he'll tend to find them much more interesting than myself or other half and follow them in whatever direction they are going! He's still just 9 months so a little distractable...

BIG breakthrough for us yesterday - visiting my parents house... it's hard to get them to follow through with our training which means Jez totally knows he can manipulate them - which usually culminates in him trying to stick his tongue in their food at tea time... but yesterday, I told him 'I'm watching you' and he sat like a gentleman all through dinner! AT LAST!!

Keep up the good work - sounds like Jez could do with a bit of the Rowdie treatment - all he wants to do is play, much to the disgust of my parents dog

Hey Kathryn Thanks and try getting together a group of people and their dogs to walk with Rowdie does best when we walk in our "pack" try it out and it might help also do as much umbilical as you can that is what did it for us

Congrats tracy and rowdie.. sounds like you have come a far far way.

Kathryn, hopefully you get to the point where you can walk off-leash with other people, its great to just be able to go for a walk with the dog beside you. I know you can do it!!
