Have courage for YOURSELF ! The dogs will be ok.
That's the same issue I and my husband had - we thought our dog wasn't "ready". If your dogs are fine when they meet other dogs walking they'll be thrilled to romp and wrestle and play with them.

I suggest to place your own post - something like "Dog Walker Helper in Hamilton"

I also emailed the admin for the site and suggested a new category - Help Wanted - so we could post things like a dog owner who needs help at a dog park, etc.

Yesterday while in the dog park our dog came in contact with obviously a dominant dog. Our dog (who was bigger - and that means NOTHING amongst them) sat, and let the other dog say "it's my park I'm in control - I'll be watching you!"

Angele, the WONDERFULL person who met us said "see your dog is ok - it's being submissive and is letting another dog be in charge"

I'm SOOOOO jealous of all you guys who have dog parks nearby. In my little town there's nothing. I've taken Shiloh down to the ball park a couple of times, but she's the only dog there, so I'm sure it must be so boring for her. There's a conservation area about 40 minutes away that has been used as an off leash park, but recently a man got a $240 fine for letting his dog off leash there! We go for long walks everyday, but Shiloh really needs some time to just RUN, and play with some doggy friends.

Thanks KeymoFrisby

I guess I will just have to take a DEEP BREATH and venture to the leash free park in Hamilton. And hope that there is someone willing to help me out.

I did have a post and not very many takers. Maybe I'll repost it.

Reading your success with this gives me hope that my two will one day have some new friends other then themselves.

Thanks Again

Hi everyone,

We just got our phone lines back up and running this afternoon. Out of internet most of the weekend, due to our front neighbour their garage was destroyed by fire and well all the cables were severed, hydo, cable and phone.

You are so welcome for the date at the dog park, I really enjoyed it and the dogs too!!! I need to do it more often with people I need to socialize my dogs with people more so than dogs.

I tried to reply to your private e-mail but I received an error message. I will try later, got to go to dog training class, 2 classes to go and I'm done.

Have courage everyone, just keep an eye on your dog and other dogs especially and study the dog behaviour and body language and don't forget your sixth sense, it's usually right.

Angèle, Belle and Charlot the "chewbakas dogs".

Wow, how could I have missed this thread?!?! I have some serious catching up to do here - all the successes are amazing!

I am so encouraged and I think I just need to perservere and let Oreo go at his pace. He has always been rather shy-ish, so I think time and patience will help him.

Congratulations to you for your success - you rock!!
