Socializing Posted: 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey everyone! I'm looking for any suggestions you may have about socializing my dog. She's a 5 year old mix that lived with two other dogs her whole life and was bottom of the heirarchy and quite submissive. She's doing great on her own but is nervous around other dogs at the dog park, she doesn't attack them or go near them but if they get too close she'll snap her teeth at them. She seems interested in playing once the others have all run off but won't go up to them. Just wondering if anyone has tips on this or should I just give it more time? Any suggestions would be appreciated, I started a topic like this before but received no replies. Thanks!!

It sounds as though she is scared. I think that as long as she is safe and is not going to bite another dog, then it is good to allow her to socialize. I wouldn't actually force it on her though, you don't want to stress her out too much.
