Dremels are great for avoiding clipping booboos (and they are selling them very inexpensively now at places like Costco and Canadian Tire). I found this site http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merensjp/doberdawn/dremel/dremel.html that has great instructions and it\'s sure saved me because my dog\'s black nails always made me nervous.

I have regular nail clippers, and dogs with black toenails. i was told that by taking off a tiny bit each week, you avoid hitting the quick, but also push the quick back so that it becomes shorter. So I'm trying that!
