MY 6 month old bull mastiff cross chews everything and rips it to pieces when he is alone i need some help to get him to stop chewing everything any advice???

Have you considered crate training?

Jenn lol.. Of course he’ll chew everything – he’s a puppy and that’s what they do lol! Some more than others though. The only way to guarantee he won’t chew anything is by keeping an eye on him – and this obviously can’t happen if you’re not there lol.. As Andy said, do you crate him? If not, you should consider this. How long is he alone? We have a 6 month old Lab. Only recently, since moving, she’s left alone in the house 11 hours a day, 3 days a week. There’s no way in Hell we’d leave her the run of the house while we’re gone that long, unless it was only for an hour tops. When we’re working, we put her in an unfinished basement room with her bed, water dish, and a couple toys. Even in the unfinished room she’s managed to tear a couple of layers of drywall off by the door (probably trying to escape lol...) and chewed apart of couple outlet covers..

Until she gains our trust, and can go for that time without pooping and being destructive, this arrangement will continue.. If she has a period of, say, 2 to 3 weeks of good behaviour, she will graduate to another area of the house or we’ll leave her ‘the run’ for a day or two as a test.

My GSD is a year and still goes in her crate when we're gone. I can't quite trust her yet.

Make sure your puppy has a chew bone, only about 3 toys because they get confused on what they can chew or not chew.
He may do that because he needs more exercise as well. If he's bored, he'll get into trouble. Find toys that he likes that will keep him busy.

Yup...puppies and chewing. He's probably getting his big back teeth so the chewing relieves the pressure. Like the others have said, crate or confine to a smaller area and make sure he's got stuff to do- kong to work out cheese whiz, etc. I used to leave ice cubes when it was really hot b/c they both like to crunch on them.

I just noticed your other thread on crate training so you have already tried it. Being a Bull Mastiff I wonder if the crate is big enough, it should be big enough for him to sit up and turn around. You can make it more comfortable for him by putting things in there that he likes and is allowed to have, food, toys, bones etc...He may be teething too, try freezing a wet cloth or give him an ice cube. Also make sure he is exercised before you put him back in there for any length of time, puppies can be tiresome, hang in there.
