I have a almost 7 year old Weim. who has been peeing in the house on a more regular basis lately. She has always been a healthy dog and was house trained as a puppy. My husband and I are scraching our heads or more like pulling out our hair for a solution. We have an 11 month old baby and my husband seems to think that the dog may be reacting out of jelousy? We give our dog plenty of excercise daily. I've noticed that she sometimes goes as soon as she hears our car in the drive way... I say this cause the urine is sometimes warm when I'm cleaning it up. Is this out of excitment or anticipation? She was a crate trained dog for the first 2 years but now she get anxiety everytime she goes into the crate. Other than possible medical causes do you have any suggestions? We need your help.

She's beautifull ! I absolutely LOVE the color of those dogs! Soft, smokey grey. The first thing I'd do it have her to the vet to make sure it's nothing health related. Usually I'd feel like - of my gosh - another $ trip to the vet for what will probably be for nothing. But better rule that out first. Second I'd pay close attention to exactly WHEN she pees. Is it to get attention? Are you spending as much time with her , now that the new baby has arrived. I remember a cat my hubby had when he lived with his parents. As soon as he started closing his bedroon door and not letting the cat sleep with him, she started leaving a "present" outside his room every night! Just wanted to say "I'm not impressed. Remember ME?"
She could be going when she hears the car door, either because she's been holding it and hearing the car gets her excited. Maybe try having one of you leave in the car for awhile and one of you stay outside where you can see or hear her. Watch how she acts when she hears the car arrive. Does she go nuts in excitement?
Why is she having issues with going in her crate now? Are you putting her in there in order to keep her away from the baby? Maybe she feels like the crate is her punishment. If she's not using the crate to sleep in at night, then why are you still keeping it around? About 3 weeks ago we let our dog start to sleep anywhere he wanted in the house (except our bedroom) and he always chooses one of two places now, and never went back into his crate to sleep. So after 2 weeks of that, OUT went the crate! Yeah ! We replaced it with a Cool Bed, which he ONLY started using a couple of days ago.
Do some research, watch her alot to find out the why's and when she pees in the house. My guess ? If it's nothing medical, it's definately for attention.
