Timothea, I just started raw myself a week and a half ago with my 4 1/2 month old German shorthaired pointer and it's had its challenges. I've found she's been coughing stuff up more since starting on it for sure, but it's usually more just some gagging or coughing and then she swallows whatever just came up. I know, gross! She's not being picky at all, but I've found if I give her something she can chew on for a while, she does much better with keeping stuff down. I bought some chicken thighs that she didn't even bother chewing, which I did not expect. The beef ribs I've been giving her are great though. Enough meat on there to give her the nourishment she needs, but they're tougher than chicken so she has to work to get the meat off, and so can only get little bits at a time. Takes her a good few hours to get the bone all cleaned off, and then she just likes to sit in the grass and lick and chew on the bones. I'm going to start her on a new meat next week, maybe lamb or some bison, which is readily available in Alberta. Your pup might just be adjusting to the new diet and having a few digestive growing pains. She is pretty young still so I would give it some time and things will probably settle down. When we first brought our puppy home, she was on kibble that we got form the breeder and she upchucked a fair bit, I think just because she ate so fast and sucked a lot of air and then would gets burps and hiccups after she ate. Then she would burn around playing so I'm sure that didn't help to settle her stomach! I find that because our pup is a hunting dog, she uses her nose a LOT and sucks a lot of air while she's eating. Probably ends up in her belly and forces some of the food up. Maybe the same is happening with yours.

Yes, Keymo ate all the bones on his first Raw meal - it was chicken.
If your dog is throwing up after eating, maybe you should try giving larger pieces?
It would take longer to eat and give it more of a chance to settle into the the tummy.
That's part of the process of eating Raw. It should be larger pieces that they actually have to chew on, pull and work at, otherwise it might as be little death-star shape pieces of kibble !

If she's doing ok on beef, maybe just keep that up. Make sure you get fatty pieces if you want to ensure she gains weight.
As for chicken make sure you have the bones available to her as it will help her baby teeth and there's lots of calcium in the bones too.

Keep in mind too that the bigger the food, the better. If it's as big as your puppy's head or bigger, that provides a great mental workout for your pup and also it takes longer to eat.
Bigger means more complicated, means more thinking involved in the eating = more stimulation, hopefully less puking!

Keep up the raw work!!

Lots of good advice on here, but need more help. Anyone let their dog eat racoon? I know a coon hunter that's really cute, and it would be a good excuse to talk to him again, by asking for some racoon for Charlotte. He only uses the skins, so I could ask him to clean some meat once in a while couldn't I, or is racoon not great for eating? I imagine it's a lot like rabbit. Anyone?

Aren't raccoons know for carrying rabies?

I'd be wary of giving my dog racoon to eat. Aside from rabies, racoons can carry lots of parasites. Even though most owners deworm their dogs, I can't help but think back to my biology class back in college. We had to dissect a racoon and detail what we found. The coon we had was chock full of all types of worms and other disgusting parasites. Not sure if all of those could be killed off with regular deworming treatments, but I'd be hesitant to feed racoon.
