On a hot day, nothing beats a fozen smelt-cicle.
I've read lots of people freeze liver or giblets before giving it to their dogs.
I'm lucky, Duke eats anything and tolerates it well too.

I've given mine frozen or half frozen organ meat, usually when the temp is above 27 and they could use a cool down. They love ice cubes too, plain or in water. I find if I put a bunch in the water bowl they'll drink water to get them out, almost like bobbing for apples. But it keeps them hydrated

Is it okay to give them frozen or half frozen chicken backs or such meats with bone?? Or would the bones not be good that way. I'm going to have to find these smelts you speak of ... probably very good for their coat too!

I just whipped up a batch of cran-liver ice cubes.

I mean, I know they don't need veggies or fruit, but hey, antioxidants sure can't hurt so I blended up a bunch, added some liver ( ) and froze them so tomorrow we'll see where we are at!

Hopefully it will turn into a nice cooling um...well....huh....we don't treat here do we....ok...so it won't be a "treat" persay, more like a freeze just because!

That sounds absolutely gross.
Probably just gross enough to be a big hit with your dog.
No treats, but a snack for no reason is fine.

Keymo will only eat liver (chicken or beef) if it's frozen or partially frozen

I thought of doing the mix as well with the popsicle making tray and chicken or beef broth. Let us know how they turned out

I thought I should share Chevy's b-day dinner with you all.
He had a cornish game hen stuffed with canned sardines with the au jus poured on top and a side of beef liver.
It took him 20 minutes to eat it! He kept trying to suck out all the sardines before he started on the hen!

Am I the only raw feeder whose dog does NOT have fresh smelling breath? It's definitely a different smell than when my pup was on kibble, but now her breath smells slightly metallic and basically like raw meat. Not what I would call fresh! LOL When she breathes on me it completely grosses me out!

One of the reasons I love Raw is how well the meat and bones clean my dogs teeth. My old dogs teeth were bad..a lot of plaque and very gross, now he has NO plaque and his breath is great! Freeze dried is a lot more expensive than buying raw from the grocery store and it is cut up like kibble and does nothing for their teeth

I have a "gulping" dog as well and he slows down for his raw. I have an immune disorder and I haven't been sick at all since I switched. Has anyone seen the " clean dog" episode where Brad deals with an overly compulsive clean person?? It would take a lot of rotten and cross contamination of the meats and veggies to get enough salmonella to make a healthy person sick. If you keep your area clean, I say dont worry. Be happy. :-)

Cran-liver pops were a huge hit! I gave Hannah-banana one when we came back from working out at the park and gobbled it all up! Yahoo! Organ mean successfully in!

On another note, I have a foster Italian greyhound with me for a bit, any suggestions on getting that little git started? She is grossly overweight for such a little sprite and an absolute grouch!!!
