Woofstock (for all the TO people) Posted: 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Has anyone been to Woofstock? I was wondering if I could get some feed back from people who had gone, who were planning to go this year etc. It's on June 10th and 11th this year (I think)
But check out www.woofstock.ca for more info.

P.S. GuardianPeggy, could I get the name of that dog trainer from you?

I"ve been for the past 4 years. The current location is much better as it is bigger than the St. Lawrence Market. It's easy to get to by TTC (and dogs can ride too)- but parking can be a nightmare. My only complaint is ithe vendors seem to gear towards small dogs- but there are lots of dogs of all sizes. Totally worth the trip- just make sure you and your dog are comfortable in and like crowds.

I am looking at the line up and it looks like I know a few of the exhibitors! LOL. You guys will see me there either way- at a booth or just walking around with a dog (most likely Guardian).

DragonRider, I am not sure what the rules are about giving out information about other trainers here. I seem to remember mentioning websites was a no-no (discussed in a thread here somewhere) but not sure about names. However I have seen other people here talk about their experiences with trainers (but not give specific contact) and that is why I choose to discuss my experiences with the lady I go to. She is surely no Brad (I am not even sure if she knows about him), but I hired her based on what I heard from other people in the dog park and what I have seen. I personally like her because she is non-treat based or harsh punishment (no prong collars). I find her to be very gentle. Oh and the classes are very much different, most of them are indoors although she does sometimes go outside to correct specific issues. Apparently level 3 is all outdoors. She goes by "mother knows best".

I'm planning on coming for the day, but I'm taking the bus so I don't have to shell out large amounts of $$$$ for gas and I haven't driven in TO for a few years so I figure taking the bus from Kingston will save me alot of hassle etc.

I think it was about 60.00 round trip but that was a few years ago. I'll have to look it up. Cheaper than buying gas for the car and then parking it in downtown TO and putting up with driving in TO!!

The bus is a good option- parking alone down there can run from $15- $20. You can either get the bus to the downtown station and walk a few blocks south to Woofstock, or get the train to Union and walk about half a block to the east side of Front St/Union station. Have fun- and remember to take advantage of all the freebies!!

After carefully thinking about it and discussing this with a friend I am unsure if I am going to be bringing my dog.

Most likely will be checking it out myself though. Or maybe hanging out at a booth!

That's another thing, how many people went with dogs, how many went with out? Did you find that the dogs that were there friendly/well behaved? what about their owners ?

Most people at the festival have dogs with them. Note though most of the dogs are small breeds- many of the apt and condo rules have a 25 lb max for dogs and most visitors are T.O residents. Turnout really depends on the weather too. The Saturday is much busier than the Sunday, probably b/c of the St. Lawrence market.
