Problem in the Crate Posted: 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
We have a fourteen month old English Bulldog who is crate trained. Before she goes to bed at night we take her for a walk and she does her business. During the past month, when we wake up in the morning, she has gone to the washroom in her crate. She was in a large crate and now we have moved her to the small one, however she continues to go to the washroom in her crate overnight. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to get her to a Vet to check for a medical condition that's causing this, such as a bladder or urinary tract infection.
At 14 months, if she's generally well behaved, it shouldn't be a behaviour issue. Just my opinion, I know you'll get more.
Good luck and let us know how it's going.

Ditto - take the dog to your vet.
Nice choice in dogs.
If we hadn't gotten Keymo (a Samoyed) an English Bulldog was my next choice. We even went to a breeders to check them out.
Later in life (don't tell hubby) I STILL want one !

At 14 months old are you still locking in her crate? or just having the crate left open but with easy access... Does she use her during the day to sleep in?... Have you tried her without the crate?... Does she sleep in the room with you?..Sometimes people use crates as a crutches... and wont let go...Try her in your room or her sleeping room with the door close and see whats happens with a dog bed..

Has anything else changed, like your schedule, her diet, etc? Have you consistently taken her out for long walks, or has something changed to prevent you with taking her out as long or as often? Sometimes if there's been a change in the household or in her diet or whatever she could be doing it as a form of rebellion, but also definitely get her checked out at the vet, as you want to be sure it isn't something like previously mentioned.
