Last nights episode(seperating family) Posted: 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 2
WOW,

who else caught last nights episode? What a mess, I wouldn\'t touch that family with a 10 foot pole for training. I don\'t know how he does it, the dogs aren\'t the problem, the dynamic in the house is the problem. I just think that parents who allow that kind of behaviour to be presented in the house should start expecting problems with the kids and the family pets. No stability what so ever! And the boyfriend, what an A******E. He would put the dogs before the family, I would have kicked his *** to the curb at the first mention of it! Now mind you, the mom wasn\'t a prize either, she had her own bag of problems that weren\'t resolved, her first thaught should always be the kids, instead she tolerates bad behaviour to be able to satisfy her own needs. Brad, I just hope that you will go back to people with dog troubles and steer clear of people who really need a therapist or family councilling for future episodes. It is good to be reminded that we set the tone for behaviour, and if we can\'t behave as alphas, then why should any dog listen or be behaved for us.

Too bad I got more "marriage council advice" than dog training help.
I mean - the "people" training in this episode was more intensive than the last episode.
what's up?

Wow was right!!! I loved it. I found it extremely thought provoking actually.

I notice a few posts on here where (women generally speaking) complain that the training isn't benig met with either the same enthusiasm by their partners or that they're not on the same page at all. I hope last nights show made some viewers look at their own behaviour and their relationships to see how they're really all connected.

Whether or not you agree with the focus on family or not in the episodes, I think it's important for people to get that their relationship with the animals in their lives is just as important as the relationships they share with the people in their lives. I think it's great that he's showing how we behave in one aspect of our life generally flows throughout our entire life and all of our relationships.

I know personally that my dogs behaviour is really a reflection of stuff that goes on in my home and for people to look past themselves and say "it's the dog, it's bad" means they're not being honest enough with themselves and can't expect to see the changes they're looking for until they are.

I found it quite interesting actually. I don't think that there are many people who realize how much their behaviour affects their dog's behaviour!! My Mom and I get along really well, we don't have issues with each and we don't fight. All our animals are calm and well behaved in the house. Bayley listens to both of us and our issues are very minor.

I can imagine that she'd be a totally different dog if that wasn't the way things are. I don't think I'd want to be around her!! People need to really look at their behaviour before they put all the blame on their animals, I think that's the point he's trying to get across. The training is the easy part, you have to get your own act together before you can expect to have any success in training a dog or any other animals!

I think that the \"marriage counciling\" was the help in this episode I think the point was to look at your family dynamic not only the dogs issues! I know that before I moved to BC my ex was very abusive and there was always tension and it showed in Rowdie she would poop places and pee everywhere and chase and bite my cats everything she was in constant motion she could never just relax, and I could never figure out what was wrong with my dog I moved out here and guess what the peeing and pooping stopedand she learned to relax then we met Brad and well she has changed so much my brother (who has not seen her in a year) thought maybe i had gotten a different dog LMAO!!! That episode might not have been to \"help\" everyone but I think it will hit home with the ones it needs too!!

pattymac I agree we have to get our acts together the training is the easy part

deanne c I agree with you also and im always soo glad that mike is on the page with rowdies training

I watched the episode this morning. With my dogs of course!

It really hit home to me as my husband and I were like that just a few months ago. My daughter, 13, asked us to make up or split up but to stop arguing or she was leaving US!...that really hit home and we decided than and there that we had to change or end it. Well we are still together and it is a complete turn around! We have argued only once since then..seriously. We are talking and closer than ever! Now when we get upset instead of arguing ( it does take two to argue!) we take a time out and talk about things usually after our daughter goes to bed. We are taking time as a family to do things again. Saturday night movies, walks or just Wrestling time between my hubby and daughter. I honestly didn't think we would ever be happy again but we are. As for the dogs, it's true they were constantly hyped, especially the puppy, Cocoa, but what a change now. they are more relaxed and easier to train. I found them becoming very alpha during that period or very frightened. Can't say as I blame them.

Training husbands, oops I mean relationships with husbands can require just as much work as training the dogs.

I am such a sap!

wow! Congrats Wendy! Thumbs up! I understand the situation better.

I'm one of those people completely oblivious to conflict and dogs reactions!
