I have a 13 week old Mini Schanuzer (Izzie) and would love play dates. She is fearless so no worries of that. The lady with the Cocker Spaniel I would have no problem meeting. I also have a 12 year old Schanuzer and he loves everyone so we can try many situations and we can even try the Harmany Creek dog park although I have never gone to it. Anybody gone there? Good/bad? It would be great to set up something there for all of us on the boards and we can work on Brad's techniques!

I went there for the first time last week after reading lots of good things about it on this site. It's a great space where all dogs and owners can socialize - or not - at their discretion. I'm trying to work on my dog's agression issues and I believe a lot has to do with her limited socialization so this place is great. There's good signage indicating the areas that are considered "off leash" and there are good trails as well as open areas for the dogs. I wish people would stop letting their dogs poop on the path but other than that I loved it. We call it "Puppy Heaven".

Hi All! I'd love to arrange some dog fun at Harmony or somewhere in the Durham region. I've taken Jessie a couple of times to Harmony (found the open area, Michelle!). It's great - nice and big. The only problem is the rain we've been getting lately - there's alot of mucky oomska in there and the mosquitos are plentiful and thirsty lol... I'm on a Harmony Valley dog park 'ODAWG' listserve - renovations supposedly began Aug. 11th, to improve parking on Grandview and to address the drainage problems, i.e., installing new ditches and culverts, etc. But other than that, the park is open!

Hi Lisa

Sorry for not getting back sooner, I am a teacher and this time of year is awfully busy. I am pretty free perhaps all of us on this Durham forum can arrange a dog meet at the Harmony Park. There is a smaller free dog park 5 minutes on the left side path and this is perfect for a small group to meet and no one ever goes to that section. I am pretty ok with times perhaps we can all give a couple of times to meet and go from there. Lisa if you want to try meeting with Gracie and my babes first at a local park or something, let me know a time and place!

It's far for you to go, Michelle - but would love to meet you! Anyone want to name a day/date? h20girl, do you mean that open field that's down that 'on leash' hill over to the left of the Grandview entrance? If so, yep - know where it is.

Oh a breath of fresh air it would be!!!! Chatting about Brad's methods among people who train using his methods! Very cool!

These people I keep running into at a regular leash park who refuse to bring their dogs to the dog park in case they get Kennel Cough! Alot of these dogs seem unstable and dominant which is probably the real reason they don't go to the dog park. I can only take Abby at the dog park so much. I have to keep my kids busy too!

That's exactly it - being around conscientious dog owners who love Brad would be awesome! Jessie & Abby would probably get along great - it's small, nervous dogs she has the trouble with. If you meet her you'll see what I mean about her exuberance - she'll probably try to 'get up close and personal' with you when you meet her. Go ahead and use Brad's method for jumping up - talk to the hand, puppy LOL! Let me know if there's anything I can do too that would help in Abby's training, too, as an outsider, or for anyone else here for that matter, if we meet.
