I think they would get along great! She just wants to play!

Abby couldn't be bothered with people. When people try to pet her, I have to put her in a sit cuz if not, she ignores them and keeps walking.

I always work on distraction training and sometimes when we go by dogs, she has to know that she can't always play. If I say no she has to learn to accept it and carry on. So it would be great with your help, to work on that. It would be worth the drive. It's a nice drive on HWY 12 anyways. My kids may or may not visit old friends. Is there a regular park around that area? I don't think I've ever been to that one.

There are tons of parks around here - I’ve got one, with a wooded trail, in front of my house! The trail even takes you past 2 other parks w/soccer fields in the area. Haven’t used the trail for awhile since, with the downpours we’ve been getting lately, it’s too muddy in there. Have to wear my very attractive rubber boots when I walk her in there LOL!

Although Harmony is an official off-leash park, dogs can still be on-leash of course. The open field is fun - Jessie had a great time running through all that tall grass lol! It’s not too difficult to get to - off the 401 straight north on Harmony to Rossland. My days are free this week since I’m not back at work until Monday. Kid’s soccer tonight and tomorrow night, then a bridal shower Sunday, but that’s it!

I think I'll be heading down the highway tonight to the dog park in Oshawa so if anyone happens to come across a mid-sized brindle dog named Rascal, I'm at the other end of the leash! Be sure to say hi.

Hey everyone!! I haven't had the chance yet to read much of Brad's book but I'm working on it . I'd love to get together at Harmony Creek dog park and practise Brad's training methods....especially since Charlie is a puppy (8 months) that's easily distracted. He has very selective hearing at the moment. We are starting puppy classes tonight and they have one acre of fenced in property for the dogs. After class the dogs get to play and I can't wait to see that. I'm sooooo glad the weather is cooperating today.

I have this weekend off (August 22,23,24th). If anyone is around and would like to get together for a puppy play hour or two please let me know. I'll try to visit this area of the forum often so we won't miss out on the fun!

Thanks,
Mary

Hi H2OGirl

I know it's been awhile, I'm so bad sometimes at procrastination. I guess I'm embarassed that I've let things slide with Gracie. I know your a teacher but if you could let me knwo some times I'd really like to meet. I just hope Gracie is'nt to embarassing. I need to make time for her, it's my responsibility.

The Harmony Creek park - does anyone know if there is a fenced in area for off leash? I don't think we're quite ready for off leash in a "free" area... We've been quite a few times with Aspen and i'd love to let her loose, but I think I may be going home alone

We normally go to the stream / falls and she could play in there all day!

Let me know .. or if there is any other off leash park that is slightly more self contained....

Hey there. I too live in Ajax. There are 2 off leash parks. The main one is in Greenwood Conservation Area (on the West side). You go North up Church St. to just north of Taunton until you see a parking lot on the right. There are lots of paths as well as the \"pit\", a huge open area for the dogs to play.

The second park is on Westney Road just south of Bayly on the right hand side. It is right beside Westeney Road (with a sidewalk and a little bit of brush growth to separate it) but you have to know your dog will come when you call it at that park...a little too close to a busy road if you ask me.

Enjoy!
