I have been feeding my dog's Raw since last Friday. My 7 mos old is loving the chicken but my 2 yr old will have nothing to do with it, NOW!! Went all day Saturday without eating so Sunday I broke and gave him some beef (which he has eaten before). He gobbled that up. Now he's happy and I'm happy...so everyone is happy!!!! I know I shouldn't have given in to him, but if he doesn't like chicken I'll just stick to the beef. Now for my question about Pork Hock's. Is it ok to give one to my 7 mos old (as a meal)? Her poo's have been kind of mushy and I'm afraid the pork will make them even more runny.

Should I just stick to chicken for awhile? I did give her one beef rib to chew on yesterday. Seems ok today!!

Yeah, you can give a pork hock! Pork usually makes stools softer.

Try sprinkling garlic powder on the chicken to make it less bland. It may work! I feel that chicken is important as well since the bones firm things up abit. Beef bones should do that too thow...

Some people on here feed a variety of meat at every meal. Maybe try different items in his dish.

One time she didn't like her fish so I put chicken quarters, fish, beef (meat) and craked an egg over it all then sprinkled garlic powder. She ate it all!
It's my personal choice to feed her one kind of meat a day.
Another thing, my Yorkie will only eat the chicken if I run it under warm water to warm it up. Maybe he doesn't like the skin?

Found out that chicken is more bland than the other meats, so after he got a taste of things like beef, fish etc. chicken seemed bland tasting so he'd anything else but.
Left him alone and didn't force him to eat chicken for about 5 days.
Next time I gave him chicken legs and he ate them.
Yes, I'm one of those people that like to mix a variety of meats in each meal. I simply found that when I do that, Keymo eats everything.
I also noticed that if I feed him chicken legs OR chicken thighs, he'll prefer that over a quarter chicken "assembled"

Porc does makes "things" a little "softer" but I've found that a little too much fat scrap from beef has done that as well.
Keymo's had softer mushier poos for the last week, (we've been feeding him Raw since the middle of April) and this is the first time he's had poo issues like this since switching and going through the "kibble detox period", so I'm being a little more strict for the next couple of days and feeding him chicken to firm things up a little and get him back on track .

So you say it is ok for my 7 mos old(Sammie-girl) to have a pork hock? They just look like they have alot of fat on them. My 2 yr old(Pete) has alway's been a fussy eater. I thought Lab's ate everything. He just stepped on a Hornet about 10 mins. ago. Not the first time he has been stung, but still as painful to him. I can't tell if the stinger is still in his paw. He's limping and biting at it, so hopefully if it is still in there he'll get it out himself. He looks so pathetic....oh, they can break your heart, eh? I've have learned from experience to not make a big deal out of "owey's" as they seem to milk it for all it's worth.....My dog's anyway!!! Have you ever heard of giving them benedryl to stop the itch and swelling? If so, how much of a tablet would I give? He weighs about 80 lbs.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm I found that the pork hocks firmed my dog's poop up. Chicken quarters do too. Beef and meat without bone is what gives her mooshy poop so I try and give bony meat at least once a day. Too much organ meat gives her the runs as well. It's the quantity of bone that seems to make things firm up.

Ella had her first vet visit here in our new town and she didn't say not to feed raw but gave me reading on it ... parasites being the big issue I believe. Haven't done the reading yet. I'll let you know what it says.

What I know is that Ella has stopped itching and bald patches are growing in and she is happy. She has gained 10 pounds in nine months which isn't great so I may cut back on her feedings. She isn't a porker, but I think she's getting a bit pudgy.
