Help With My Chihuahua! Posted: 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I have a 2 year old female chihuahua. She is very sweet, quiet, and gentle. As with all chihuahuas, she is VERY attached to me. Most of the time she follows me around everywhere and when I am around her she always listens to me and does what I say. She knows that going potty outside is the right thing to do, and when I let her out she does her business almost everytime.

The problem I have is that when I leave the room, even for a few seconds, she will pee. She will pee even when she doesnt have to go badly. I know this because most of the time there is barely any pee, it is as though she does it out of anger towards me for leaving the room! I never catch her in the act because she would NEVER do it in front of me. She knows it is wrong. I would like to be able to leave the room and go upstairs without her going to the bathroom in the house. Once I get this accomplished, I would like to be able to leave her for a few hours by herself without her making a mess. Is this even possible? I would really appreciate some advice!!

She has learned going to the bathroom in the house, infront of you, is wrong. So she needs to either be with you, or put away when you can't be with her, until she learns peeing in the house is wrong, PERIOD.

We had this issue with my last dog. He was great, until we walked away from him. It took a lot of crating and having him on a leash (we didn't know to do umbilical at the same time, but same idea) in the house - until he learned you just don't pee in the house. EVER.

Dogs who mess in the house can't have the priviledge of being alone/unattended until they know the rules.
