Behavioural changes since starting Synergy Guide.. Posted: 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear folks,

Has anyone else experienced subtle behaviour (neutral ones) changes in their dogs when starting the synergy guide? I'm sure we're all experiencing a little rebellion, but that's not what I'm asking about. Subtle changes.

I noted that our male is beside me constantly now, and our female is starting that pattern now too. I'm the one who works them

For example, I could hear both our dogs (on their own beds not ours...) having active dreams last night. I don't recall our female ever having that active of a dream that I recall. She was yelping a bit in her dream even. I read up briefly about their REM state etc. Is it possible that she's getting a deeper more relaxed sleep now????

Also, my female eats poop! We pick up the yard twice a day. I could be mistaken, but I think she's lessening on this behiavour...I actually found a pile yesterday when I got home, that she hadn't beaten me to when out loose in the yard earlier with my husband. She used to head straight to the pooping zone to scope out her "treasures". We could try to deter or distract but her drive to eat and find was quite high. So its a behaviour she knew we disliked, but would engage in it anyways...

Maybe one of the moderators could explain that behaviour changes of this type (which are nothing I'm worried about by any stretch in fact the lack of poop eating is a blessing!!!!) often occur when the home dynamics shift.

P.S. sorry if anyone is grossed out, but its definitely behaviour not medical. Yes we've tried every trick and tip, no luck. She loves hot pepper sauce. We just keep the yard picked up.

Dorothy

My older dog, a lab, was a poop eater as a pup. He was badly abused and had numerous issues to overcome, the poop was a harder one to break. The easiest way I found was to walk him in the yard on his leash, with a training collar. Anytime he approached the poop, a sharp tug would follow. It took numerous days and lots of time on my part, but I was consistant and took him outside on his leash every single time. After about a week I was taking him outside without the leash and only once or twice he tried to eat the poop. After about 3 weeks, he stopped trying and never went back to it. Having a designated poop area made it easier to teach him where to poop, where to play, and where to eat, etc.
