I started out using a regular choke chain on my dog when I got her. It didn't help with the pulling she did when on leash, all it did was give her a big sore on her neck. My trainer advised me to switch to a pinch collar, and I, not knowing there were any alternatives, reluctantly agreed. She did improve with the use of it, but I probably would too if I had a bunch of spikes sticking into my neck. I felt horrible using it, but I figured at least it wasn't hurting her as much as the choke chain was.
After seeing Brad's show, and finding his website, I decided to give a martingale collar a go, and picked one up yesterday. SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!! She didn't fight me when I slipped it on, like she usually does with the pinch, and on our walk, she didn't pull once!!! She actually behaved better with this new collar!
I just wanted to say, "THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU," for getting the word out about these martingale collars!!! I'm pretty sure my dog says "Thanks" too.
