Hi there,

I'm Laura, married to Tim and a SAHM to four kids from Port Perry, ON. We have our lovely 8 year old ReizenschauzerX boy Oscar and I was able to use Brad's techniques to get him to walk perfectly on his lead! We also have one cat named Schat and she, like Oscar, were born in Belgium then spent a few years with us in the U.K. before our return to Canada last year. And just because my life wasn't crazy enough with four kids (5 if you count the hubby), one dog and one cat...we decided to adopt a rescue BeagleX named Daisy! She has only been with us a few days so we are still getting to know each other but she is a beautiful girl who just needs some training (including housetraining...DOH!).

I look forward to exploring the site and I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions along the way and learning from all of you.

Does Brad have any plans to come to the Toronto area in the future?

TTFN,
Laura, Oscar, Daisy, & the gang.

I suppose I should have done this a while back.

Anyway I am Trevor you can call me Trev. I am married with two young boys and a 8 month old very inquisitive Goldendoodle, Dyson. So far our training is doing well and I am looking forward to learning more as this is the first time I have been the primary caregiver for a dog. I had on when I was 6years old until I was 21 and didn't have one until March of this year when our boys fell in love with Dyson at the pet store.

See you around!

Hi Everyone,

I'm Shell and have happily co-existed with Keith for over 20 + yrs. along with two teenage sons. We own a Shih Tzu-Terrier mix named Otzo other alias include Mrs. Otzo. She entered our lives when she was 8 months old and living the life of a "community" dog at that time. She is now 3 1/2 yrs old and an absolute joy in our lives. I found her initially to be a somehwhat submissive dog, she would cower when a voice was raised she would hide under a bed or roll over on her back. Whenever the door was opened she would try and make a run for it. I honestly think she thought that's where she'd be living outside like she was before. She obviously wasn't trusing us at first however with time she came around.

She is a very smartdog and is very eager to please as all dogs are, to be sure. I found because of her initial behaviours I couldn't nor could Keith be firm with her. So we spoiled her. I would now like to help Otzo overcome and master the bad behaviours that we have taught and reinforced. Mainly, I would like to be able to walk with Otzo without her dragging me everywhere while in the process she is choking and gagging on her collar. I thought a solution to this would be a harness-not so. I would love for her to come back to me when I call out her name ( yes, she will elope), to not freak out barking when some poor soul knocks on my door, to not jump up on people, oh my! That isn't good is it?

I am really interested in the various training techniques that I have seen on Brad's show. I recently used the umbilical technique with Otzo during our walk in the park and it was by far the best walk I have had with her to date. I look forward to implementing the many techniques I have seen here and am open to suggestions to help Otzo be the best she can be.

Shell

Hi, all! May here w/ my 3 dogs (1 Aussie & 2 mixes alike). I call my crew the Aussome Ones because they are mostly Aussies and they are awesome dogs! There names are Dax, Vegas, & Cricket. They were all rescued and all have VERY different personalities, but we love each other and get along great. We're here to learn and help with whatever we can.

Thanks!

May* & The Aussome Ones:
Dax (6yo, M, Border Collie-Aussie)
Vegas (5yr, F, Aussie)
Cricket -- aka Crix, Crick-A-Doo (3yo, F, Great Dane-Aussie mix)

I'm Liz. I live in Regina. I am now sort of partly retired. I quit work and gradually I seem to have gotten back into it again. I have been interested in dogs for years. Have owned various breeds - Airedale, Puli, Pembroke Corgi, Golden. Right now I have an old Golden and three Shih-tzus. I have Tyson, the youngest in agility. He loves it and its a lot easier doing it with a dog who likes what he is doing!! I have to admit that I use treats to reward him in Agility, but I am cutting back on it. I would like to eliminate the treats altogether because he often pays too much attention to the treat.

To introduce ourselves Posted: 7 Months ago Karma: 0
hi all, it was suggested(when I inquired if there was already a thread) that I open a thread in "the park" to introduce ourselves.

I'm Melinda, mom to two grown kids, I live in Cornwall, Ontario and run a city daycare, I share my home with my husband of 29 yrs, Brina an almost 3 yr old lab/shepherd mix, the result of a byb thinking to make money, Brina was on the way to the spca with her 7 litter mates when I adopted her at 8 weeks old, I also own a 6 yr old male standard Chinchilla. I'm very involved in Cornwall with fighting the BSL. Guess thats about it, I also rehab orphaned wild critters with the help of sanctuaries in Ottawa. Hope to meet other concerned dog lovers here.
