Hi everyone.
I just got home from Brad\'s seminar in Kitchener, ON. and thought it would be a good time to introduce myself.

My name is Clark Wilson and I live in London, ON. I have two dogs, Hawkeye, a 6yr old German Shepherd/ Beagle and Nakita a 3yr old Dalmatian/Husky. Both were rescue dogs. Hawkeye at about 6months from the London Animal Care and Control and Nakita at thirteen weeks from London Humane Society. Here they both are where we spend a large amount of our time.

Hawkeye has been doing Agility on and off for 4yrs now and we both enjoy it a lot. Nakita tried it but started to show some minor signs of sore hips after training sessions so will remain a companion dog. Her passion is running and where we walk she gets to run with deer on a regular basis.

I have really enjoyed the episodes of the show that I have been able to watch but now am not able to see the channel on which it appears. I certainly was very happy to be able to attend the seminar in Kitchener and look forward to reading the past posts here on the forum.
A couple more pics.

New here but thought I would post here first before going on.

My name is Chris Boynton for London and I have a 4 year old chocolate and white Border Collie named Jada. She is very close to me and we do alot together. She was not a rescue but a dog that was crated a lot so is very shy around others. We have been training agility now for 1 year and are doing ok at it. She is a great dog and gets along well with others without any issues.

I have been watching Brads show since it started. It is a great show that really shows how you can turn a dog around. My fiancee and myself record all the shows and watch them every week. I just found the website and Facebook group which is great because even though agility is proving to be hard enough on me and her I need to help break her of some little things that I do not want to grow. Hearding, staying wide or me all the time, a general shyness when I raise my voice those types of things. I am sure that Brad and those here can help. Since there is no one in the area that trains the methods Brad uses I am having to pick up what I can try and follow what is being done to help break some bad habits.

Hi!

My name is Lynda. I live in Nova Scotia with my two children and husband. I've been watching Brad's show ever since we brought Skipper into our family. He is a border collie/german shepherd mix and is one year old. We've had him since he was old enough to leave the litter and he's come an awful long way since then. I've been watching Brad's show since we adopted him and I love it. I find dog and human behaviour problems every week that pertain to my family and it makes it easier to correct these.

An online community is great. I can't wait to start reading and get even more tips to help Skipper be the best dog he can and, perhaps in time, share a few of my own.

Hi

My name is Laureen, I live in Calgary. I have a lovely border collie cross named Nica. We got her from the Animal Rescue Foundation when she was about 4 months old. She is currently about 1.5 years old. She has been both a joy and terror.

I have recently met some graduate of one of Brad's classes and been very impressed with their dogs. I would like to develop that kind of relationship with Nica.

The household also includes my boyfriend; Dave, a 14.5 year old lab cross who lives with us part-time; and Beaker, a quaker parrot.

Currently my boyfriend is not on-board with us taking Nica for training with one of Brad's CETs. He also disagrees with me when I tell him Dave needs a refresher course. He thinks it's cute that Dave "loses his marble" at the thought of going for a walk (whining, barking, etc.). I know Nica has picked up some bad habits from Dave and would like to stop that. I am hoping to work with Nica using Brad's books and show enough progress that I can convince my boyfriend to get on-board with the training.

I'm hoping this forum will help when I run into questions on stuff in the book. It's been fun and informative reading the forums so far.

Hi there;

Im Becca,I currently live in Corbeil,ON. And I love dogs, and will soon be a breeder of German Shepherds. I currently have three dogs and getting another in the fall. Our first family dog is Rover. He's an Australian Shepherd/ Border Collie cross that we got 13 years ago. And he's still the same old pup. Than I got my dad a White German Shepherd for his busness as a protector. Yeah my dad was a long haul truck drive, and needed a commpain and a protector and Bear was it. That girl saved my dad many times. She is now 5 and as my dad is home more so is she. And now she gets to play all day.I enjoy working and training with my dogs. My very first dog of my own is Wolf my 7 month old Sable German Shepherd. He is my best friend and we love working together. I show him in the conformation shows in Ontario. So far he has two pionts towards him Canadian Championship.
I love Brad's show. Watch it very monday night. Cant miss it. I wanna take its CET course that he offers but gotta get wolf his championship first.Than after that I will try to go to Bral's CET course and maybe with my new little girl that Im getting this fall. She will be my second show quaity german shepherd. She will be soild black or a bi-colour(mostly black with tan or red on the feet and face like a rotti),I cant wait to bring her home and start the training with her too.And maybe take her with me to classes with brad. she dont get shown in the shows till shes 6 months. So there be lots of time in there to attend.

Re:To introduce ourselves Posted: 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi Everyone,

I just found this website yesterday and WOW its amazing!! I have a 9 week old male fawn boxer puppy and I will be getting a female brindle boxer next week. I have had boxers for 14 years. My first boxers were two female fawns. Abbey lived until she was 12 years old and my other girl, Shelby lived till 2 months shy of her 14th birthday. It has been almost 3 years since my girls passed. It is wonderful to have dogs back in my life, dont know why I waited for 3 years, I guess I had a really hard time with the loss of my girls. My new puppy Keeno is 9 weeks. He is an amazing little guy. Very eager to learn. He sits, speaks( my sons taught him this, lol) and he will go in down position when asked. Enough about me and my puppy. I have a concern with my parents and their boxer. He is 3 years old and neutered. He is very friendly towards people but agressive towards other dogs. I believe its a territorial and possessive issue. I believe my parents are loving him to death. There is no discipline what so ever. I have tried to tell my parents that they are doing more damage than good. Here are some things he is allowed to do, sleeps with them, sleeps on the couch, he jumps on my dads lap while he is in his chair. He jumps on everyone, knocks over my sisters kids that are 6 and 8. The dog wont sit, down, come, stay, he does it only when he wants to. When my dad comes over the dog would almost knock him to the ground to get into the house first. There is no consistency. I had my parents dog for 2 weeks while they were on holidays. I worked with him everyday. I had him crate trained without barking all night. He would sit, stay and down and come was improving each day. I went through basic obedience steps with my parents and of course they did not follow through and as a result last week we had a dangerous situation that happened. My parents recently also purchased a boxer puppy from the same litter as myself. I went over to their house to show them my boxer puppy, and I gradually introduced the 3 year boxer to my puppy and all was going good. The 2 puppies were playing together and the older boxer was playing very good. He was mostly interested in someone throwing a stick for him. Then my moms puppy growled at mine. the older boxer went crazy, attacked my little puppy, pinned him to the ground and knocked myself and my mom to the ground to get at the puppy. I took the puppy and tucked him under me to protect him. My mom wasnt stronge enough to pull him off me. I wasnt in a good position that i could grab his collar so I had no choice to put my hand inside of his mouth and grab the loose skin that boxers have around their face. When I did this he backed off completely. Stupid I know, I was a mom protecting my baby. In all the years I have had boxers and going to CKC obedience trials, obedience classes, etc. I have never seen a boxer with such bad behavioral problems. It has now become dangerous and I am afraid for everyone around, including the dogs. I can guarantee that my parents lack firmness and training will affect the new boxer puppy in the same way. She will pick up all the bad habits and then both of them will be fighting to see who will be the alpha dog. I have now told my parents that they are no longer welcome to come to my house with their dogs nor will I will be watching them if they have to go away for a couple days. My parents feel bad for what happened to my puppy but at the same time they think I am overreacting because the dog never hurt my puppy physically, I told them that it could affect the puppy emotionally in many ways. I am not a professional dog trainer or anything like. I just have a passion for dogs and I love what I do. How can I train my parents? How do I get them to take me seriously? If there's was a program or course I could take I would and then maybe they would take me more seriously. I dont believe there is anything like that in my area. If anyone has some ideas for me it would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Chris

Hi, I live in Kitchener, Ontario with my son Connor (9) and our new English Pointer Charlotte (9wks) Yes, all you Pointer fans out there, I know that she is just a pointer, but everyone always thinks that that is the same as a German Pointer, so alot of us Pointer fans call our breed English Pointer, because they are.
I have had many pets in my life, and recently said goodbye to a longtime feline companion of 18 years. I couldn't humanely introduce another pet into my house with him around, he wouldn't have liked it. He was old and cantankerous, and when he finally decided to leave this world, I knew it was time to get another dog.
This past Spring, my pick of a litter died one week before I was to take him home. My son and I were heartbroken, but persevered and found another breeder that I liked, with a litter born not long after. We will be bringing home our nine week old girl Charlotte in one week, and just can't wait. She was named by my son after Charlotte from the Lost series, as he loves her, and you name your dog after something you love. Cute huh?
For those of you not familiar with Pointers, they are a sporting breed, easy to train, good with kids and other animals (except birds unless you count hunting as a good thing) and beautiful animals. Mine is black and white, but they come in orange, liver and lemon as well as self coloured. They can be really kooky, and really don't think that they are dogs at all! It's really hard to keep a Pointer off the couch, they really think they are potatoes sometimes.
Enough about me... what about the next guy?

Hi there,

My name is Sarah, I am 24 years old and live in Lethbridge Alberta. I currently work part time as a furniture and advertising salesperson and contract graphic designer, and attend University part time working towards a BFA in New Media. I have two semesters left and then an internship and I will be finished. I was taking a BSc Psychology with a focus on animal behavior but found it wasn't quite the fit I wanted.

I have always loved animals my whole life, and our family always took in animals in need. I don't know why I love dogs so much because we only had one growing up. I currently have a 6.5 year old Siberian husky named Maui. I have had her almost 4 years; I bought her but count her as a rescue because she was abused by the people who had her. She was extremely thin, and kept on a 5 foot chain all the time. She is a wonderful dog, more obedient than your average siberian but then I have been working with her for almost 4 years. She has come very far. At first she did not know how to play or anything. She is awesome and we are developing a very close bond as we continue to work together.

I have worked with her in obedience and would like to get her CD title. We also did Rally Obedience training and I would like to start competing in that, and we are currently doing Advanced Agility which we really enjoy. We also do bikjorring and in the winter skijorring which is a blast! I am hoping to move back to BC in the next few years (I grew up in the West Kootenays) and am looking forward to lots of snow to skijor on.

I still would love to be a dog trainer, I have no formal training as it is just experience and a gut for it. I would like to find out more about Brad's courses, as I am a big fan of his methods and philosophy. They are very similar to the ideas I have developed over the years. I think Brad does wonderful work and saves alot of dogs from a poor fate.

What a good thread!!!

Hi, I\'m Jaime (f) and live in BC and am a Licensed CT Mechanic. I have had dogs all my life and can\'t imagine a world without them! I currently have 2- 5.5month old Great Dane Puppies and take care of my 9y/o nephew. I got my male from a breeder friend, and his litter sister from a friend locally (full litter mates). Usually I would have gotten a pup from a rescue or adopted one, but I knew my puppy would be a good one! I have had 2German Shepards, German Shepardx, and another great dane, which were all adopted from people who could no longer care for them. I just lost my Dane of 12 years a few days after I got my male puppy, he was tired and I knew he wasn\'t goin to leave mommy alone in the world. I think he approved of Strut

I have been thinking of doing Agility or Tracking with Strut, but i\'m not sure how it\'d be on him as he gets bigger.

I recently found this site after watching the show for the first time. I wish I had of seen it a long time ago!! I haven\'t trained a puppy in 10years, and my ShepX was extremely smart. My two danes right now are stubborn, smart and loving. I am excited to see the new CET in BC!!!! This site has TONS of good information throughout the threads, and thank you in advance for all the help i\'m sure will be found here! (and already has been!)

*edit* We also have 2 cats in the house, and my aquarium of dwarf frogs and fish
