This thread discusses the Content article: Flying with your pet

Just a comment on the suggestion of "remove collar and leash", in regards to an international flight. I can see the leash part, but having traveled with my dog to and from Australia, and having witnessed dogs running loose on the tarmac, I would recommend leaving the collar on as a form of identification, as well as, an easier way for airport staff to catch your dog should he become Houdini in the cargo hold!! Not all dogs are at "Rudy's" level........ yet

We am returning to UK this June from Canada with our dog and the paperwork process is incredible, also getting everything done in the correct order is vital otherwise the dog will end up in quarantine.

Just tagging on to what has been discussed, removing the collar/leash, it does depend on the airline/pet travel agency's specific requirements. Us, as owners do not really get a say in what to do, the airline decides. Scooby is not allowed a leash or collar on but I have to have photos of him attached to the crate and one in my purse just in case he gives the airport staff the run around (now wouldn't that be funny!!). Lucky for me, I have a crate that has a separate lock in pod-like container that I can leave all his bits and pieces in, how cool is that?
