Growing up I had family pets just like everybody else did. My dog Stan was so well behaved, he was my buddy my pal and everything was rainbows and sunshine...well, that's how I remember it anyway. So when I finally got my own dog I expected the same thing... man was I in for a rude awakening. Owning a dog was a bigger responsibility then I could have ever have prepared myself for. Now, I'm not talking about going for walks or picking up poop, Im talking about meeting my dogs needs and making sure heʼs living a happy life.

I had seen a few episodes of Brad's show and read a book or two before I got my own dog, so I thought I knew everything I needed going into it. Nope, wrong again, that wasnʼt enough for the well behaved dog I wanted. Thats about the time my boyfriend and I signed up for a private training session with a Alana, a CTE in Edmonton. During that private session I found out the CTE course was going to be offered in Edmonton, and there was absolutely no way I was missing out on that opportunity. The process of becoming a CTE changed my life in the best ways possible, it's an experience I'll never forget and one I am eternally grateful for. With a new outlook on life and passion for adventure, I am looking forward to being able to share the same successes I have had with my own dog with other people. The bond and friendship Roadie and I have developed is something I want every dog owner to be able to experience.

I had always wanted the perfect dog, the envy of the neighborhood. When my fiancée and I finally had the chance to adopt the puppy of our dreams, we took it. During all the hard work and all the sleepless nights, I found myself happier than I had ever been.

We did all the research, bought all the books, but we were not seeing any results unless we had a pocketful of treats. It got to the point where we would not take Mia to the places we wanted to go, because we were embarrassed by how poorly we had trainer her. There was no way we were going to give up, there had to be a better way to get the information and the results we needed. That is when I started to think about a career working with dogs. I knew we were not alone in our need for help, but I didn’t know where to start. Then I found out about Brad and his amazing team.

The day I started the CTE course, I knew our lives had changed forever. We saw incredible changes in Mia almost immediately, and the true bond I was creating with her was growing everyday.I knew from that moment forward, I wanted to help owners not only exceed their goals and expectations with their dogs, but to also educate them on how to get that wonderful relationship with their dog. With the proper tools, hard work, dedication & patience, anything is possible, in both the dog and owner.

I'll be the first to admit I didn't have a clue about training a dog till my wife and I hired a CTE to work with Zoey our energetic Weimaraner. After that first private my eyes were totally opened. The training we received was absolutely amazing!

The best decision I ever made for my dog was bringing in a CTE. If I hadn't, my wife and I probable would have given up on Zoey, just like so many others out there do. Zoey has been a battle, she is a head strong, brilliant puppy but, through Brad's methods I learned to understand my dog's needs and how to meet those needs.

After months of working with Zoey, getting real results without the use of masking tools like treats, choke chains, and prong collars, I knew I wanted to take my knowledge of dogs to another level.

I then decided to enrol in Brad Pattison's CTE course. In my honest opinion, when it comes to dogs Brad "get's it " plain and simple. His passion IS dogs, and he understands them! Brad's methods are the real deal, and I wanted to learn from the best!

It is a privilege to be called a CTE, and an honour to have the opportunity to educate others setting them and their dogs up for total success.

My new goal is to help educate and empower dog owners by helping them set high expectations for their dogs while still having fun. I have seen Brad’s training methods work time and time again and on a variety of dogs, helping both dogs and owners to have a happy, healthy relationship with one another. I want to help educate dog owners about the importance of fulfilling the dogs needs while building a strong foundation with them that will create a lifelong trusting relationship between the owner and dog. With this method of training, dogs are exposed to real life situations with outdoor classes bringing the dogs respect and bond to the next level as they are challenged to think for themselves, but to also look to their owners for guidance.

“Oh my goodness, we created a monster!” Those were my exact words to my husband the day we decided that something needed to be done.

Our first dog as a couple was Loki, our little American Pitbull Terrier. We do not have children so Loki was our little one to raise and love. We did everything with good intentions, as do most people when they get a dog. We loved him, cuddled him in our bed, gave him treats for tricks and commands and let him walk ALL over us. We thought we had a dog that loved and respected us, but in reality we had a dog that was not bonded to us or respected us at all... he just had US trained to give him treats when he felt like doing something. He dragged us everywhere on walks and barked and lunged at others. After a walk I was in tears, wanting to pull my hair out and give up on Loki. My dreams of promoting the breed as great dogs was quickly dissipating.

I happened to watch an episode of 'AT THE END OF MY LEASH' a few years ago and was amazed. Could Loki really have a chance of being that awesome, model citizen we always wanted? We decided to pick up a copy of Brad's book SYNERGY. After reading it cover to cover several times we started working with Loki. I will admit, not having Loki in our bed was the most challenging part, but after a few days we saw such a turn around in his behavior on walks that it was a great trade off. We actually began to ENJOY our relationship with our dog!

From that point on I knew I wanted to share my knowledge and pass it on to all so that they too could feel that enjoyment that having a dog SHOULD bring into your life. I went off to Kelowna and the rest is history.

Having a dog should bring tears of happiness, not tears of frustration. Now that I'm a CTE, my goal is to educate as many people as possible to make the human/dog world a lot brighter and to keep those four legged family members out of those overcrowded, underfunded shelters and rescues.

I, like many other people had nothing but good intentions when it came to my dog and family.  I adopted a puppy (Mia) who seemed to have had a rough start at life and just needed someone to love her.  I took the responsibility of being a dog owner with Mia’s well-being at heart.  I took Mia for many walks, to dog training, and sent her to doggy daycare for lots of playtime and socialization. I did everything I could think of that would help Mia be a well rounded, happy dog.  We tried many different methods of training, trying to figure out what would work the best but nothing seemed to stand out.  They all concluded with the same result: Mia was not a trainable dog.  This was all told to us by a trainer, a person of knowledge who you trust that they know what they are doing and saying.  As a dog owner this upset me, my visions of a happy dog and therefore, a happy family was slipping through my fingers.

We started noticing many issues and unwanted behaviours in Mia.  I felt helpless, I didn’t know what else to do with Mia. It was then that I started watch a TV show called “At The End Of My Leash” and thought “Hey maybe I can have that dog I have always wanted?”  In the mean time, Mia’s issues were becoming bigger and bigger.  We heard that Brad was coming to Edmonton.  I applied to have Brad work with my poor, abused Beagle puppy to help us understand how we could help her.  We worked with Mia and learned that she was not abused and that her behaviour was all MANIPULATION and a lack of respect.  I was crushed to find this out and to know that between my husband and I, she respected me the least.  I was crushed to find out that the bond I thought I had developed with her really wasn’t there and it was all a lie.  I left that day very upset and worried that my problems had only begun and here I had a new baby in the house on top of that.  I left, trusting my dog less than ever and worried that she may bite me, or worse, my new baby.  I needed help, so I decided to take the Street Safety Training classes with Adam Jones that were offered in Edmonton.  I was inspired and had a renewed passion that maybe I could have that dog that I always wanted.  I finished the training classes and was amazed at the difference I saw in my dog.  The behaviours started to disappear, the bond between her and I was growing and she seemed happier!  I wanted more information and training, so I decided to take Brad’s Certified Trainer Educator course.  WOW...what an experience!

Having completed Brad’s course, I am a better person and a better dog owner.  I now have that relationship with Mia that I always wanted and this is creating such a strong passion to empower and help educate others.  I want to share my experiences and knowledge and offer my support.  If Mia and I can do this...so can YOU!  “Be surprised when your dog does something wrong, not right.” – Kevin Pattison

I was born in Slovakia, Europe and spent 29 years of my life there. I had dogs from when I was a teenager and I spent hours training them. Different lifestyle in Europe brings different expectation from dog owners. It is very rare to have a dog sleeping with owners in bed, or even let dog go on furniture. Usually people buy dogs for guard dogs, show dogs and train them.

When I moved to Canada I had to leave my dogs in Slovakia. Based on their old age the vet didn’t recommend the long flight. I missed them so much. I was surprised how differently dogs are treated here. Dogs of my friends were allowed to sit on the sofa, they were sleeping with owners, they steal food from table, they jump on people, they were not able to walk with no leash and they had more rights then their kids. They had lots of clothes, shoes and fancy collars but they had no training and they had no manners. I didn’t understand why, until I had got myself a dog.

When we bought our first dog in Canada, I started to look for a training place. I visited a couple of places and even took one course. I just learned how to overfeed my dog. I didn’t know where to find a place to educate myself better. Even with the knowledge I had and experience with dogs before I was not able to train my dog.

When I saw Brad’s show on TV, I was impressed from results he gets. I research where I can learn his techniques, and found one of his CTEs, Adam Jones, and I took Street Safety Training classes. It changed my and my dog’s life. Now I know; Brad’s techniques work.

I made decision to take CTE course. I would like to educate other dog owners and teach them to understand their dogs. Help them build healthy relationship with dogs. I don’t want for dogs to end up in shelters because dog owners don’t know how to deal with problems. People buy nice cute puppy and they are surprised when that puppy grows to 150 pounds dog with no manners, or they have 3lbs dog with aggression problems and they can’t take the dog for a walk. They are not able to take dog to dog park and dog with no exercise is getting worse every day. Some of them get rid of their dogs, but some not. Some of them will look for help and I am always ready to help them.

I waited for a very long time to be in the right place in my life so that I would have the time, and energy to properly care for a dog.  I read tons of literature by dog trainers old and new, and perused various Shelter websites for months before finally settling on a dog. I figured I would select a dog that had seemingly been overlooked by others because I was eager and willing to put the effort into training.  I chose the dog who would throw her body against the window of her kennel barking and snarling every time another dog went by!

I adopted Apache and with good intentions set out to train her on my own.  She had a very dominant and protective personality and she seemed to be totally unpredictable at times.  I didn’t understand the psychology behind her reactions and what set her off.  I realized I couldn’t train her by myself and so began the arduous journey of researching dog trainers.  I found lots of trainers who held classes inside and tons who used treats, clickers, and other masking tools.  Shouldn’t my dog be able to do what I’ve asked of it without the use of food?  What about distractions like skateboarders’ whizzing by and small kids screaming and running around?  How do I learn to deal with those situations when I’m in a sterile indoor environment?  Is there anybody out there who can help me, anybody???

Enter CTE Lori-Ann Sibbald who had given me a business card some 8 months before I even owned Apache.  I enrolled in her Street Safety Training class and she revolutionized the way I thought about my dog and in general the way people interact with dogs.  The results with Apache were amazing.  I understood her better, I felt closer to her and I finally had the tools in my tool belt to deal with different situations. I realized the training wasn’t over when the course was and that everyday offered training opportunities.  Eager to learn more I enquired about becoming a Trainer and 6 months later I was enrolled to become a CTE.

Becoming a CTE was one of the most challenging goals I have worked toward.  I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to educate and empower people by turning frustration into confidence and their dogs into the great companions they always dreamed of.
