My entire life has involved and been dedicated to animals for as long as I can remember. From walking the neighborhood dogs after school, working at pet stores, volunteering at our local zoo and Wildlife rehabilitation Centre and now working in a Pet Hospital. I even went so far as working and living on a Game Reserve in South Africa to indulge in my passion and be able to observe wildlife day in and day out .

Currently, working everyday in a veterinary clinic I get to observe dogs in an environment that is stressful and foreign to them. Surrounded by strangers, scary noises and weird smells, this setting really shows their true colors, which tends to surprise most owners! And as I watch the owner and dog struggle, I am thinking the whole time, "I can teach you why your dog reacts this way, and I can educate you on how to get your dog to be calm and have amazing manners even at a vet clinic!" Veterinarians and Animal Health Technologists would really love it, if all dogs came in and could be touched, poked and not make a sound or try to bite their faces off!

YOU could have that dog! I can enlighten owners and empower dogs to be able to handle any situation they face together. It breaks my heart to see owners that are at their wits end, have no idea where to start, or who to ask to help them with their little ball of fur. With the right education, commitment and perseverance we can eliminate tragic stories of dogs having to be given away or left at shelters all because of their bad manners. It doesn't have to be that way. Thanks to Brad and his amazing instructors, I now have a wealth of knowledge and the skills to help owners improve and enrich their relationship with their four legged friends!

In 2003, I witnessed the untimely death of my brother’s untrained dog.  At that moment, it became my mission to understand and care for dogs, while educating and working with the owners.

Over the past 5 years with my dog walking business, I have spent thousands of hours working in a pack setting and learning the unique way of canine communication.

It became evident that each dog has its own unique personality. From that, I realized that it’s about learning who your dog really is and what its' needs are.

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to watch a strong bond being formed between humans and canines.  I strive to help  owners see their dog for what it is; an animal requiring strong leadership and high expectations. Not a fur covered human with pressures placed upon it to take care of our emotional needs.

The greatest gift I have received from canines is the realization that my learning never stops and that dogs have an infinite amount of information to pass on if we are willing to put in the time to watch.

I have always been that person who draws great satisfaction from helping animals out whenever I can, whether it's driving an injured duck to the vet or helping
wrangle the loose neighborhood dog back to its owner.  I have always held the philosophy that we as humans are responsible for the well-being of the animals
around us.  This is especially true of the dogs we have chosen to live with.

Through Brad's training, I have come to understand that the abilities of dogs are endless as long as we commit to providing them with guidance and
opportunities needed for learning and growth.  A healthy bond will naturally follow.  No dog deserves less than this.  I am excited to share my knowledge so
that both owners and their dogs can have enriched and happier lives!

A life-long animal lover with over 7years experience working with dogs and 15 years experience in the helping profession, I have always been motivated and driven by new challenges, building valuable relationships and providing leadership and support to help people and creatures rise to their potential.  A nature-nut and active living enthusiast, I know first hand the life-long emotional, physical and spiritual benefits of being connected to the outdoors through exercise and activity and want to bring these opportunities to both dogs and owners.

A few months ago I put on my “entrepreneur hat” and began brainstorming ideas on how to tie in all that I love into a business I can call my own. In June 2009 I completed the 6Legs to Fitness(tm) Instructor course.  As I began running classes in Calgary during the summer I knew my business plan was still missing something.  The branches of my “vision” tree were beginning to grow strong, but my “foundational” roots were still weak....this is when I called Hustle Up Training, enrolled in the CET course and proudly graduated in October 2009.

Why Dogs? Why Hustle-Up Training?

7 years ago I overcame my fear of dogs, instilled by a run-in with a mini “Lassie” as a teen.  As I opened my heart and soul, my connection and passion for dogs was undeniable.  I began fostering, raising, training (informally) and sitting dogs while soaking up all the canine knowledge my little’ brain could hold.
During that time I became the owner of 2 brilliant dogs. Like any new owner ambushed by trainers and misleading information, I placed my blind-faith into the hands of treat/clicker training, spray-collars and “doggie vallium”.  I let my dogs sleep on beds and couches and had daily hour-long conversations with them about everything and nothing.  Time passed and amazement and mass confusion set-in.  Why were my dogs the re-incarnation of Einstein when I had slabs of liver in my hand for sits, stays and even a round of “game-show”,  yet were unruly on-leash when meeting other dogs and created a barking tag-team furry at the off-leash, sometimes ending in fights and disgruntled owners.

Baffled by the mysteries unsolved by the almighty bag of treats, I was embarrassed, anxious and stressed every time I stepped into a park.  I walked my dogs at awkward hours and crossed the street whenever another dog approached.  I was extremely frustrated with feeling clueless about the underlying issues and behaviours I was truly dealing with and was determined that there must be a better way.

This was when Season 1 of “At the End of My Leash” began to air on Slice.  Stumbling across it one night on tv, my eyes grew big with excitement and hope and I figured I had nothing to lose.  So I began retraining my dogs using information from the show, began to research information based upon Brad’s philosophy and approach and the results were immediate.  Walks became enjoyable, the park became pleasant, but most importantly, I began to understand my dogs and respect for the intelligent, social and complex animal that they are -  not the domesticated novelty on 4-legs I first mistook them for.

I am honoured and excited about the opportunity to bring my passion, knowledge and experience to the lives of other dog owners so they too can reap the unspeakable rewards of building a bond and relationship build on leadership, trust and respect.

I have always had dogs in my life over the years I have done training with my dogs with various methods all that involved treats. I always knew there must be a better way to do this, I wanted to walk my dog without having him on a pinch collar and a pocket full of treats hoping he will listen to me. I knew it could be done; my Grandparents always had dogs off leash that listened and where not food motivated. But I did not know how or where to start.

One day I saw Brads show and thought this guy has it right, no treats no hurtful collars for the dogs, and the dogs do everything they are asked every time. I looked up Brad on the Internet to find out more and then saw on his website he has a Hustle up school to become a CET dog trainer. I knew I had to take this course to become educated to help myself and other dog owners to be able to have your dog respect,  listen to you and to create a strong.

I am happy to have the opportunity to share my knowledge to teach people dog training can be fun and rewarding for everyone involved.
