Emily Day (on leave)

Why did I choose to become a 6Legs to Fitness™ instructor? There is more than a simple answer to that … there is a story behind it. You hear a lot about that “3 pm wall” that people hit in the afternoons but could you imagine living life continually hitting that wall? Every day … all day.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes shortly after my 19th birthday. When your blood sugars are off kilter, your body needs fuel that it’s not getting from food so it breaks down your fat tissue first, then your muscle tissue shortly thereafter. I was hitting an unending 3pm wall and losing body mass because of it. At my worst point, I was so weak I couldn’t even lift the water pitcher!

Since being diagnosed, I have spent many hours re-building the muscle in my body. Most of those hours have been together with my dogs.

With 6Legs to Fitness™, not only am I able to work out and train my dogs at the same time but I have fun doing it! 6Legs to Fitness™ is unlike any other fitness program I’ve worked through. It’s a lot of fun, I enjoy it and the best thing is that I can bring my dogs with me! This is what puts 6Legs™ apart from the rest.

I have so much energy since I started working out. Now I want to share this great feeling with others. Everyone can feel this great; whether they have health concerns or not. If I can do it, so can you!

I have had a gym membership in the past and could never quite understand the attraction.  Running or cycling in the same spot for 60 minutes is not my idea of a good workout.  I am always happiest when I am outside so when the opportunity came for me to be a 6Legs instructor, I literally jumped at the chance.

I am proud to be a 6Legs to Fitness™ instructor and offer people a great physical workout, mental health by enjoying what nature has to offer and creating and building on the bond they have with their dogs.

Classes starting in Burlington and Mississauga.

I have always been a very active person that loves being outdoors and accompanied by my dog and when the opportunity came along get certified as a 6Legs to Fitness™ Instructor, I didn't think twice.

What an amazing service to offer people that love fitness, being outside and spending time with their dogs.  Too many times I have heard people choosing between the gym and taking their dog out for a run .... 6Legs to Fitness™is the best of both worlds.  Being diabetic, a healthy lifestyle is important to me and I want to challenge others to get out and play with their furry friends and feel as great as I do when I wake up everyday!  My dog Avalanche no longer gives me those sad looks when I head out the door -  now she is excited when I pick up that special 6Legs to Fitness™ leash knowing she is going to be there right along side me getting part of her daily exercise, training and bonding time all at once.  It is a great addition to my CTE career and another way to help owners and their dogs become closer while getting a workout and having a ton of fun along the way!

I have always been an active outdoors person, playing every sport possible. If there was something competitive, I was there. I had an older brother growing up that would never let me win. He would only let me see glimpse of winning and then he would take it away. This is what has taught me how to push myself and challenge myself to do better at everything I do.

When I heard about 6Legs to Fitness™ I was so excited about what it had to offer. As a dog owner I had never thought about including my dog in my outdoor entertainment and fitness lifestyle. This program is fun, rewarding and challenging for both you and your dog. We all know the look we get from our dogs when we leave the house without them, so why not make their day and join a 6Legs to Fitness™ class.

I have always believed, it doesn’t matter what your goals are, anything is possible with a little mental adjustment and accountability. And I’m excited to be able to offer this through 6Legs to Fitness™.

Keeping in good shape has always been ideal for me and so is having a happy and healthy dog, but it seemed like there was never enough time to balance the two. So what could I do; ditch the workout for a walk with my dog, or come back from the gym exhausted only to find her waiting by the door for her daily run? Most days the dog would win, and although I love spending time with her, I just wasn't getting enough out of it physically.

When I was introduced to 6Legs to Fitness™ during my CET course, I felt like I finally found just what I needed; a challenging full body workout where I didn't have to sacrifice fresh air, sunshine or time well spent with my dog. Instead of impeding my goal to get fit, my dog became my inspiration TO get fit, and keeping things fun along the way! It's such a simple and wonderful combination; I jumped at the chance to be able to teach it to others.

Being able to help people feel better about themselves and their relationships with their dogs is one of the most fulfilling experiences I could ask for. There's nothing quite like facing a new challenge and achieving your goals all with your dog by your side!

I was a sprinter, high jumper, basket ball player, had personal trainers, love to do spin class, bike avidly, run (just for fun), hike, weight lift, cross country ski, basically I’m a fitness junky.

I was getting up at 5 am to fit in my work out and then get the dog walked, all before 8 am, frustrating and sometimes impossible, which left my 4 legged friend giving me the evil eye.  Why not do them together?  My dog loves to run, play, be with me, and we both love fresh air!!!!  I get bored walking the same route, and  doing the same routine thing with my dog (and my work out), walking in the same neighborhood for 6 years gets to be a little too boring for us.  So I started looking for alternatives.

As a CTE dog trainer and a vet tech I see obese dogs every day.  Fit people come into the clinic with over weight dogs.  They work out but forget their 4 legged buddy needs to work out too.  As a mom of 2, I completely understand the time crunch of “how do I fit it all in?”  If you walk your dog for an hour and work out for an hour, combine them, it actually saves time and everyone wins.

My goal is to create a class that is FUN, invigorating, challenging, and stimulating for both the person and their dog.  Get ourselves and our dogs fit.  Plus you and your dog make new friends.

A healthy lifestyle is important in our times, with all that surrounds us it is easy to forget but, it will be what keeps us at the front of the pack. As dog owners, we know that they are an active lifestyle, getting out and about with our little buddies keeps them healthy and happy, so why not join the two and have fun doing it!

6Legs to Fitness is an awesome way to stay healthy for yourself and your furry buddy, and it has brought me and my dogs closer together because it is another way for myself to include them into my healthy lifestyle.

A few of my favorite things to do include: being physically active, spending time with my dog, and being outdoors.

When I heard that Brad had combined all 3 of these things together in a new type of fitness class I was excited to attend. After the first 6Legs to Fitness™ class I participated in, I knew I would be back for more. The classes had so much to offer - an intense workout for both owner and dog, a place to meet new people, dog training, and tons of laughs.

I feel it is important to live a healthy life and find a balance between work and play - with 6Legs to Fitness™, owners will no longer have to leave their dog at home while going to the gym or sacrifice their workout to walk the dog. I'm excited to be able to bring 6Legs to Fitness™ to
Toronto and help promote a healthier lifestyle for people and their dogs.

Being physically active is somewhat new to me, but it is something that I have come to enjoy, especially when it allows me to spend some quality time with my beautiful dog Seamus!

In May 2010, I weighed 207 lbs! After 7 months of dedication and commitment, with the help of a personal trainer I started to exercise and changed my diet. I lost 55 lbs (and kept it off!) and now I exercise daily. I even now co-own a fitness studio in mid Toronto. At 48 years of age I am now in the best shape of my life and after completing my 6 Legs to Fitness training course I am now in a position to help others lose weight, get fit and have fun with their dog while doing it!

I hope to be able to share my new found enthusiasm for living a healthy lifestyle with others and to get people (and especially their dogs) up off the couch and into the park!
