How do I transition my dog from sleeping in his crate to sleeping on the floor beside our bed? Print E-mail
Thursday, 06 December 2007
How do I transition my dog from sleeping in his crate to sleeping on the floor beside our bed? A good place to start is to keep the leash attached to the dog and then tie the leash to the leg of the bed. If the dog goes to jump up on your bed in the middle of the night, well, he won’t be able to. This also teaches the dog that this is his new place when going to bed. Once the dog is successful without moving or attempting to jump on your bed, you can leave the leash attached to the dog, but do not tie it to the leg of the bed. The dog will have the association of being tied to the bed. Once this is sustained, you can remove leash and collar.
