I have heard that I need to put my dog on a feeding schedule. Is this true? Print E-mail

I have heard that I need to put my dog on a feeding schedule. Is this true?

NO! That is one of the worst things you can do!

There are so many people who do this, and the dog is running their life and schedule. If you think about it, coyote or wolf pups are not on a schedule. Depending on food kills, they may not eat everyday.

You need to switch up the times you feed your dog, or it will become demanding and controlling. So, for example, one day, feed the dog at 7 am and then at 5:30 pm, the next day, feed your dog at 8 am and then 7pm. Do not get into a routine. This goes for walking the dog too!
